A few weeks ago I got a 2nd TV (Samsung) and a HD Receiver. A few days ago my wife turned on the TV/Receiver (odd, said searching for Sat. on 771, but no biggie). She was able to change channels fine to what she wanted to watch. When she went to use the remove again it would NOT operate the TV or the Receiver.

I replaced the batteries from a known, good working remote.
I tried putting the center select button in different postions than the *normal* far left.
When I press the power button the far left and far right lights go on/off simultaneiously.

Did the remote shoot craps?
Is there something to reset? I tried unplugging the receiver for a few minutes.

first tell me what is not working, or what the remote does.

To work the RCVR the slider switch must be all the way over to the left (to the D symbol)

The remote is the *standard* (or so it seems) from DTV that operates their HD/DVR and/or HD Receiver (others?) PLUS can be programmed to operate the TV and other equipment as well. Anyway..........., mine is just programmed to operate the receiver and TV and it operates neither.

In the end I discovered the remote just shot craps. I verified on other receivers, etc. A *new* remote resolved the issue on the receiver right away and on the TV after I did the remote setup.

take the old remote. make sure the switch is on the "D" symbol/ Press Mute and Select for about 2 seconds or so. the green light by the "D" symbol should flash 2 times. When it does, press 00001 and try it on the rcvr. if that works the remote is programmed for the RCVR. if not, try 00002 through 00004.

Slide the switch to TV and press Mute and Select for 2 seconds again. the light should flash on TV twice

Enter
10812

if that fails try 10060 10702 11060 10178 10814
10766 10019 10650 10030 10054
10056

one of those should work the TV
