1. Morning appointments are more likely to be on time, And more likely not to need rescheduling.

2. Search for new movies or TV shows. Strangely to me Movies seem to show premiere and TV shows seem to show as new.
So to see what new movies are coming up I search for Premier using info not title and choosing movies in the next screen.
For TV Shows I just search for New using info.

These are imperfect searches as they show Premieres that are new to the channels but may have been aired before on a different channel. Better than nothing however.

3. If you don't need to use UHF remote, then do what I do and pull the antenna off of the receiver. That way there is no way for a neighbor to to change your channels or order PPV on your box.
Installers why not change the box off of the default address as a part of the install?

Simple hints I know but maybe they'll help somebody.

concerning #1: I disagree. So many people want am appointments that if you have a PM, the installer may actually have a chance of showing up in that window.

concerning #3: depends on the experiance of the installer and how many damn am appiontments he has.

Well all I know is that I've had much better luck with AM appointments than PM appointments. Any PM appointments always came way late. Yeah they showed up, 7Pm+. I'd hate to be them.

Well how long does it take to set the remote. When the guy was installing the 612 he programmed all three remotes to use with it. I'd have been happy installing it myself. It was a easy one for him. Pull out the owned 721 which I'll be moving elsewhere. He put a new separator on the 612 and left the old one on the 721 since I only have one free feed from the DPP44 switch. I suspect that he spent more time on the phone activating and waiting for the software download than any other part of the install. He probably though he'd have to run wires etc. and it turned out easy.

Dish's scheduler uses large areas, say, a county, as a zone. They open up so many "points" (1 point = 10 minutes of estimated labor) for AMs, and so many for PMs, in that zone.

But what often happens is that in this large county or zone, people on one end take the majority of the AMs, so customers on the other side of the zone are mostly PMs. When the jobs are routed out to installers, they are given based on much smaller areas where those installers work. So, even though AMs and PMs may be balanced across a county, an individual company may get 90% AM appointments one day and 90% PM appointments the next day.

My company seems to get all PMs most of the time, with a "mostly AM" schedule about once every two weeks. All we can do is call our customers and spread them out over the work day as best we can. We rarely lose a customer for this reason, but it does happen. Not much we can do about it, though.

actually, the default is still 1 for both ir and uhf. now when new remotes are sent out, the address on the new remote is randomized.
