We have had two DSS receivers for years (dual round Sony dish) and just purchased a R15-500 Tivo.

Can I split the feed cable that goes to the second (non-Tivo) received and use that feed for the 2nd input for the Tivo?

Much thanks!

No, SAT feeds CANNOT be split and work. Your only option is to purchase a multiswitch. The two feeds from the dish will go into the multiswitch, and the receivers will be fed from the outputs.

Actually, that's not your ONLY option, you could upgrade your dish to either the 3LNB or the 5LNB. Both have 4 outputs. The alignment on the 3 is tricky, the 5 is even more fun. Unless you have it done by a pro, then it's not your problem.

But the easiest and quickest solution is the multiswitch. It just isn't a long-term solution if you want more services later down the road.

You would need a multiswitch not a normal splitter. You can get a non powered 2x4 or 3x4 for about $20 on Ebay. You really dont need to pay more for the powered multiswitches unless you have long cable runs.

The new DirecTV Plus DVR's dont have the TiVo software, they are DirecTV's own branded DVR's with many features that the DirecTiVos lack.
