I recently had a 622 and 211 installed. Have had Dish for several years. No issues with the 211 which is connected to a new Panasonic with hdmi. The 622 is connected to an older Sony 36 inch direct view with composite connectors, no hdmi due to age. When the guide is bought up it is not square from a horizontal view point. Not big distortion but noticable. Have reconnected the compostie connectors as was told be Dish that this would fix. It did not. Does any one have a suggestion on what to do. It is not a really big deal but would like it to be correct. Thanks all in advance for any advice.

What connection are you using? Are you really using composite? If you are then you are not get HD on your set. Is your picture correct and only the guide is wrong? Please supply more detailed info.:welcome_s newbie

I am using the blue, green, red connectors with separate audio connectors. Does this not provide the HD signal. I thought it did but am a real novice at this. It is difficult to tell if the picture is off as the horizontal line on the guide is only off by a slight amount. Enough to see when there is a straight line going accross the screen but difficult if it is just a picture.

I have looked through the menu settings of the Sony and could not find anything that said there was an adjustment to the Sony.

Thanks for responding any additional thoughts , suggestions would be appreciated.

These are component connections and yes this gives you HD. Yellow, White and Red are composites. Check the menu on the tv and see if there is an adjustment. Some of the older Dish receivers had an adjustment, don't see one on the 622. Both my tv's can be adjusted.

Those are component not composite that will give you HD. From the info that you have given I have a feeling that the pix is also slightly off. That it would mean that you would have to have a service tech adjust the deflection on the CRT. It prolly isn't as noticeable on the picts because it isn't a straight white line showing up across the screen.

I like bynum have a HDTV that only accepts component inputs. Up until about 2 to 3 years ago component was the only HD type of input. My brand is different but it is a 4x3 HDTV monitor. It is a CRT HDTV. So I think it is very possible that he has a HDTV with component inputs. It gives a constant letter box image.

I have a CRT projector and I use the Component output from the 622 and send it to a transcoder to get the picture into an RGBHV format that my projector can handle. I noticed a significant horizontal shift in the picture with the 622/transcoder signal compared to all of my other HD sources. I had to use a separate Extron box with horizontal and vertical positioning controls (RGB202xi) to shift the picture back to normal. Although this would not work in your situation, I mention it because it seems the problem is related to the 622 and older CRT combination. I haven't heard of anyone with Plasma or LCD screens having similar problems when using either Component or HDMI.

My Sony VPH-D50Q has no problem with component output from the 622, in fact it can just take the RGB and uses sync on green.
