Driver has a mono microphone. So does each spotter. Perhaps one day, there will be 5 microphones in each car, so that we can hear that glorious engine racket in beautiful 5.1...but for now, we must console ourselves with the fact that we are hearing the actual monoaurial sound that the drivers and spotters hear from their monoaurial headsets and microphones.KitchMD said:

I'm noticing that when I have a driver radio tuned on 799, the program is in mono? What's with that?? If I switch back to ESPN audio on 799, it goes back to Dolby Digital 5.1. How do I know this? My received switches automatically with the audio format? Directv needs to fix this.
In fact, I notice that on the other Hotpass channels, they are not in DD 5.1. They are in DD 2.0. The sound really sucks.
