Saw commercial to get NASCAR Hotpass for rest of season for 29.99. Went to web site, logged on, selected activate the Hotpass package, and site reports: "We're sorry, you are not eligible for this product."

What do you need? A secret handshake or something?

Probably just because I am new to D* but you should call and say that you heard some people were getting the rest of the season for free and you were wanting to try it to see if it was worth it for next year. It cant hurt to try.

I just called and asked what deals did they have for the rest of the season, and he said I can give it to you at NO CHARGE. I said thats great, thanks.


After they added it, it kicked my HD Access off, they had to reset it. The last time Directv changed something on my acct it kicked off HD ACCESS, but when they re added it, it automatically gave free HD access credits.

When I signed with Direct last week, they informed me they would be giving me the remainder of the HotPass for free. im not a NASCAR fan so I didnt think much of it at the time. However, ive because a casual fan after watching last weeks race. I thought pic quality was good. I dont think im a big enough fan to pony up the $$$ to renew next year though.

I agree that its not that great of a package. Not sure what they can do to make it better either. I took it because it was free and I am a Nascar fan.

Just remember how D* works with sports packages, you don't renew, they do that automatically. You have to be proactive and cancel it to avoid suprise changes on your bill next year.

I'm rethinking getting it. They had a free trial weekend and it wasn't that special. It was an impluse buy kind of thing with Race for the Chase and everything going on.

The past few races have been especially good. The language editing has been much better as far as not blocking too much dialogue and the camera operators have been doing better at panning away from the cars to show the positions relative to the other cars.

Now, we shall see who gets the other three dedicated channels for the Chase since Jr has his own. My guess is that Jimmy will get one about every week. Horrible Harvick will probably get more than he deserves, Pretty boy Jeffie still might get a few depending on his mood, Edwards well, his popularity definitely has risen since he is putting the moves on Kyle quickly, and the others, including Smoke will have to "fight" to get their spot for one.

I flipped over to Tony's channel at the end of the RIR race and he sure was ticked off at his team. Zippy didn't sound too happy with Tony calling out the team like that either. If not for Hotpass I'd have missed all that.

And aside from Jr. having a channel every race it will be interesting to see who gets cameras. If Jeff gets 4 races I'll be happy. 799 makes it easier to deal with no dedicated channel.

Actually the censoring issue has been a non issue the last couple of races.

Especially after this weekends race. I usually flip around on 799 to the different audio channels.

I happened to land on Waltrip at the end of the race trying to hear what they did to the car that caused his cratering at the end.

To say that the colorful metaphors were flying on the radio is an understatement. I counted at least 8 F-bombs amongst others. Neither the crew or the driver were very happy. Something about tires and the track bar.

Add me to the complaining crowd, but it has been massively better the last few weeks. Actually my only real huge remaining issue is the delay, which still drives me nuts, but I am getting used to it. They got the HD feeds looking great and have been way better on the production lately.

After seeing the killer NFL HD mix channel I'd love to see one of those for hotpass. You could stick the TV feed in one screen and leave the rest for full in-car shots, and even let us choose the feed.

Well said. I don't even look at the lower right of the screen anymore. That delay is so annoying.
