Hey guys,
Does anyone know if the spot beams for the local Houston channels make it to San Antonio (specifically around Boerne)? I am on a hunting lease just north of San Antonio and would like to watch my local Houston stations while I'm there (mainly for local sports that won't be on the non LIL channels). At this point, the plan would be do drag a receiver or DVR back and forth to my trailer on the lease. With all the evacuations over the past couple of years, I'm hoping someone may have tried this and knows the answer. Since I'll probably only be there 15 to 20 days a year, I'm looking to avoid setting up a new account with a San Antonio address.

Thanks,
Rich

Be aware that this could be against the TOS regarding moving your receiver. But on the other hand you mention you have a trailer so you are in a bit of a grey area. Normally we would delete a thread like this but if you are moving your receiver from your home to trailer only about 20 days a year, I see no big issue.

I don't really know if the Houston locals make it this far (I'm in San Antonio). I'm kind of curious myself actually.

According to the info in this thread (and I used Google Earth to see):

I'm going with no.
Excellent, this is exactly the type of thing I was looking for.

So looking at the various files
DirecTV 12 103W - I'm right on the red line at 39.5dBw
DirecTV 9S 101W - I'm right on the green line at 52.8 dBw
DirecTV 4S 101W - I'm between yellow and red with it being closer to yellow. So somewhere between 51 and 41 dBw

Looking at the Transponder Map thread, it seems like my HD locals are on 103W and since I'm under 50dBw, those are probably out. However, my SD locals are on 9S 101W or 4S 101. So I think I may be right on the very edge there. Looks like this is going to be a put up a slimline and see type situation.
