How is TiVo's latest line of products doing in the consumer marketplace?

Last week, TiVo CEO Tom Rogers said early consumer feedback on the recently-introduced TiVo Series3 High Definition Digital Media Recorder has been positive. And sales of the product, the company's first stand-alone DVR that's HD compatible, is meeting expectations, he said.

Meanwhile, the TiVo Series2 dual-tuner box, which launched in the second quarter, represented about 58 percent of all sales, Rogers said.

The TiVo executive also stressed the company continues to focus on a potentially big market, the analog cable customer. During the third quarter, about 47 percent of TiVo-owned subscriptions came from this group, Rogers said, adding "we remain the only DVR solution for these customers."

As for third quarter results, TiVo said internally owned subscriptions were up 24 percent year-over-year to 1.6 million. As expected, TiVo reported a net decline in the number of DIRECTV TiVo subscriptions during the three-month period as the satellite TV company deployed fewer boxes from the DVR pioneer. Cumulative total subscriptions as of Oct. 31 numbered 4.4 million.
