On my custom guide Dtv has inserted four and sometimes five line ads for its premium channels. HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz are up there now. I would really like to delete these. Is there a trick way to delete them or am I stuck with them?

It's NOT a solution, but what I have gotten myself used to for about the past 6-12 months is in the guide, turn to 502 and then scroll up 501. You'll then miss those block of ads. (for the premium channels.)

To get rid of all the ads in the 100s Uncheck ch 125, to get rid of the 500 ads remove ch 501.

There are also ways to get rid of ads in other areas too.

One day I switched my favorites to ALL CHANNELS and was amazed at all the obnoxious ads that for some reason I didn't see. As it turns out, removing certain channels from your favorites list near the ad gets rid of the ad. Of course, if the channel that does this is one you regularly watch you have to put up with the ad.

Or get hold of an H25, use it at the main TV where you tend to watch most.
Then with WHDVR service let the HR's reside elsewhere in the home.
The non-DVR's don't get the ads, and have the added advantage of scheduling/playing recordings across any and all networked DVR's.

And the H25 is faster than any HR available.

Don't you lose all trickplay capability? Never having any Hxx's I'm not 100% sure but if so that would be a MAJOR DISadvantage and certainly not worth giving up for a few ads you rarely see.

FF, RW and 30 sec slip all work. Granted there is a slight lag since nothing is local on the H25.

However you can't pause live TV. You have to first start the recording somewhere and then play/pause it.

If that's the case it makes more sense. So an Hxx NON-DVR can do DVR type trickplay when you play back a recording from a remote HR. Interesting but I can't see doing it on the main TV but definitely an option to avoid those pesky guide ads! :eek2::lol:

Sorry for the side question but do RVU units like the Samsung TVs display the ads in the guide?

Just replace all your HRxx receivers with Hxx receivers. No more ads.
