It says in the D* Manual

"If you would like to change the volume and mute to work with other audio equipment, such as a stero, you can. When you program the remote for the audio equipment, onscreen instructions will direct you on how to do this."

When I program AV1 and then enter my codes for my amp, it goes to (Done). I am not given an option to use my Amp volume as the default volume?

Any advice????

Thanks!!!

Slide switch to AV1 position. Hold down Mute and Select until it blinks twice (just as you would for programming the remote).

If you want the remote to operate your amp's volume in all modes press 993 and then Select.

If you want the amp's volume to operate in only the AV1 mode, press 993 and then VOL Down.

It also should tell you how to do this in the instructions (at the bottom) on the page that has your codes listed.

TigersFanJJ,

Thanks so much for the information. It worked like a champ!!!! I spent over an hour tying to do this, I could not find any useful info in the manual. (Note: wanted to let you know that you need to press Mute & Select. Not Menu & Select.) Just wanted to mention this just in case someone else needs to know how.

Now that I got that fixed, does anyone know how to program other buttons so that my D* remote can control my amp. The Sony code that I Used only allows the remote to control the amps power on/off, amp volume, and for some reason when you puch the (Select button) it selects amp DVD? I need the D* remote to allow me to select my Amp sources. (DVD, Sat/TV. Tuner, Aux, ect...)

Thanks again!!!

Oops, yeah I meant mute and select. I just edited my first post so that I won't confuse anyone who glances at it later. Glad you got it working.

If the codes listed do not change the amp inputs for you, I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do to get it to work with these remotes. You may want to pick up one of the Harmony remotes, as they make it simple to run everything. That's what I've heard anyway as I don't have one. Many of the fine folks on these boards use them, so someone can probably tell you where you can pick one up for a resonable price.

Also, a learning remote will work for what you need. However, it can be a pain to find the right learning remote and setting them up can get really frustrating sometimes.

TigersFanJJ,

I'll check out the Harmony remotes. I've notice that remote seems to be the choice of universal remotes on this board. I purchased several universal remotes in the past including a several Sony and few Russound remotes (made by universal). They all seem to have there problems.

I have the RC32 remote, that came with my H20 receiver, running a HR20 DVR. I am trying to get it to control volume on my Denon receiver(3 codes listed) but can't get it to work. One of the codes will power the Denon off and on but won't control the volume. The other two won't do anything.

I have followed both techniques described above and displayed by the receiver in the remote control section. Previously I had it working with the RC64R remote that came with the HR20 although I remember it was difficult to get it to work. I can't remember what step I took that got it working. As I recall it wasn't exactly as instructed. I am now using the RC64R with my H20 in another room because I needed the RF capability. Any one else had this problem and got it to work?

The volume keys NEVER work initially with ANY audio code. The reason is the volume keys won't work without a tv code programmed to the tv device, once the tv code is in, the tv volume now in the way of the audio volume.

So with code that powered off the denon, and a tv code programmed in, do the following;

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 3
4. press SELECT

Edmund,

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. I don't have a TV. I have a Sharp front screen projector. My Denon receiver is the amplifier outputing the sound from the HR20. What you are saying, I believe, is how I stumbled across getting the previous remote to work controlling the Denon volume, as I mentioned in my first post.

If you don't mind could you explain the process again. I have done what you said above and so far it hasn't taken. I believe there are some steps missing.

If you want it to work, there HAS to be a tv code programmed to the tv device, it doesn't have to be your tv brands code, just any 5 digit code beginning with 1**** that gives two blinks after the fifth digit, like the sony code 10000.

1. tv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 1 0 0 0 0

now enter the denon code:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter either 31360 or 30160

To the get the volume:

1. av1 or av2 whichever has the denon code
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 3
4. press SELECT

Thank you very much. That helped me a lot. I also read in another thread about Onkyo receivers where you said
It won't both turn ON & OFF the onkyo receiver, not with onkyos use of a two key power scheme, and add to this the single power key on the white remotes. One of the power commands will always be missing.
I have an Onkyo HT-R540 receiver -- does this mean that none of the codes will both turn on and turn off my receiver? BTW, I was very frustrated until I read your post. I was freaking out because it took me a while to figure out on my own that code 30842 would only turn OFF the receiver while 31320 would only turn it ON. I said, "I CAN'T BE THIS STUPID!" LOL

Thanks.

EDIT: I found code 31805 turns it on and off and I found that through DirecTV's website -- http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380052 For some reason that code is not even listed when you search through the DVR, but it's the only one listed on the website. :)
