How does D* add new channels in guide for OTA?

Lubbock (my city) just received three new digital channels. 22.1, 22.2 and 22.3. How long til I can get them in the guide and tune them with my directv receiver? I don't think any of my hr20s have an ota scan.

I thought the HR20's did. The HR 21 and 22 don't(obviously). The AM-21 can't do a scan. It gets guide data via the SAT.
DirecTV has very little to do with this. The local station must provide channel listings to Tribune who then will incorporate it in their data which DirecTV and many other sources use for their guides and listings.

The HR20 does not have a channel scan capability.
So it was only the HR10's that did? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh yes. TiVo.
OK. So how long does it take for Tribune to Directv, etc? 6 months?

Soon......sorry, I just could not help myself. Everything is soon it seems.
They generally pop up pretty fast...
Hmm.... I dont' get ANY of the sub channels in the South Florida market from D*. The only way I get the sub channels is via an outside antenna.

Just because they're out there, it doesn't meant that D* will allocate the bandwidth for the subs.

About the only sub-channel worth watching is 6-1, local weather. Several sub-channels have bit the dust in the last few months. I doubt we will ever see the subs, not worth the expense on D*'s part.
I think last 2 are missing the OP point, the OP is asking about ota and how long before they appear in the guide.
all my subs are ota also, but they are all in the guide.

Once Tribune has the data entered, it will be just a couple of days.

Don't forget that if you are running a 'Favorites' list that you will need to go and check periodically if they have been added and add them.
I'm moving this to the HD DVR forum.
Personally, I think the HR20's implementation of OTA is brain-dead. Any digital tuner that can't perform a full channel scan to see what's out there is seriously crippled.
Even if it can't scan, why can't I just type in the channel number? Channel 5 in Chicago recently added subchannel 5-3, but it took a while to get into the program guide. Why couldn't I just type 5-3? 5-1 and 5-2 were already there. Or if there is a brand new station, say 14-1 that really broadcasts on channel 15, why can't I type in 15-1? You don't need PSIP data if I'm providing the real channel number.

EDIT: Sorry, I think I'm getting off-topic. Please excuse the rant.
