How Far?

Hi All,
I'm currently a Comcrap customer and am looking for something more. Was a C-Band guy for 20 + years until the programing ran out. I'd like to move on to DBS (Comcrap in my area leaves a lot to be desired, I have a whopping 22 HD channels including locals) for the HD. She Who Must Be Obeyed has mandated that there shall be no dish attached to the house. So...that leaves me with mounting the dish on my barn which is approximately 175 cable feet away. Is that a problem? My old C-Band dish was even further away and worked perfectly fine, but that was C-band. Being I'm a brand new to DBS and in the Eastern Arc I'm assuming that I'd be all MPEG4 and require the newer dish (!000.5?) I only have one RG-6 cable run from the barn, is that ok? I have been looking at both E and D but feel that E's equipment is superior to D's. Can anyone in the eastern arc comment on the new MPEG4 SD as far as PQ? I was told by an E installer that the MPEG2 SD left a lot to be desired.
Looking forward to becoming an E customer, I think!!!

175FT cable can be done but would recommend RG11 instead of RG6. How many receivers do you want, at least 1 cable per receiver from dish. EA is too new to really have much input yet. Most so far has been complaints of poor installs.
If you can swing some sort of ground mount, you'll probably be happier. Anything much beyond 200 feet total and you may have issues.

Wait until the spousal unit finds out you need multiple dishes (or one double-sized one from D*).
I would mount a pole close to the house. That way if it snows it is low and close by to clean it off.

Multiple dishes????? I was somehow under the impression that the new Eastern Arc thing eliminated the need for two dishes. Two dishes would be a deal breaker for me.
In CT, you should be able to get EA as long as all your receivers are the HD Vip since everything is mpeg4 on 72.

It will be soon if you're in the Hartford DMA.
