If you've got the latest software for your HD DVR you will be able to use Pandora right though your TV. All it takes is an internet connection. Are you using it? Is it working well for you?
Pandora certainly wasn't a driving factor of the increases. Very possibly channels you don't care about or watch, but not Pandora. Considering you can buy a Blu-Ray player for under $80 with a lot of other services along with Pandora, it can't be all that expensive to license.marker101 said:Do not use Pandora. Another useless service from my point of view. Glad my increased fees are covering something someone can use.
At 128kbps, I believe an hour is about 60 meg.Jon J said:My ISP imposes a surcharge if I exceed 150 GB per month. My current usage never exceeds 20-25 GB. How data intensive is Pandora or what might an hour of Pandora be in data download?
I enjoy the service and appreciate its addition.
Thanks.
Thanks. Looks like I could almost listen 24/7 and still be okay.dpeters11 said:At 128kbps, I believe an hour is about 60 meg.
Pandora streams mp3's at no more than 128kbps, and it's too early to do math for me. But I think you'd have to be streaming 3 or 4 different accounts 24/7 to even start to notice the throughput.Jon J said:My ISP imposes a surcharge if I exceed 150 GB per month. I'd be surprised if DIRECTV® paid or pays a nickel for Pandora other than some dev. costs to install the software to make it possible.dpeters11 said:Pandora certainly wasn't a driving factor of the increases. The rumor is that Pandora gives a revenue cut for the inclusion. No idea how accurate it is, but D* didn't pay Pandora a dime for this. At the very least, Pandora did a one time payment and then worked on the app."Laxguy" said:Welcome addition!

Probably right. I wasn't sure, so assumed worst case. But looking at their third quarter statement, the only thing listed under revenue is advertising and subscriptions.Laxguy said:Welcome addition!

You're lucky you have decent stations...fornold said:I'll never use it. I don't want to turn on the TV to listen to music. That's what the radio is for.
