From 1996 (DirecTV first)-2010, I would flip between DirecTV and Dish just to get the best price, fun times, pissed my wife off every time I did it.

Even put up the Dish(s) up on the roof by myself.

Luckily I only had a ranch style house at the time.

I’ve been with DIRECTV 26 years since 1997. Back in those days to get the premium channels like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc you actually received a seperate bill in the mail from U.S.S.B. & your regular channels you paid directly to DIRECTV back then. I remember the first year I had DIRECTV i’ll never forget it the little hardware store I bought my RCA Dish & Receiver from had a local contractor that worked for them in the very small town I live in come out and install the dish on the roof. He came out the very afternoon I purchased my dish & wired everything and then after everything was hooked up he personally called DIRECTV from my home phone & got my service turned on and I can remember this like it was yesterday I made sure to tell him to tell them (DIRECTV) that I wanted NFL Sunday Ticket at the early bird price back then it only costed $99. A few days later I received my first bill and paid for my first month of service with NFL Sunday Ticket paid for also in full. I never was so happy in all my life to finally be rid of the local Comcast Cable Company because it STUNK. I have been with DIRECTV ever since then and still with them til this very minute as I am posting this.

I hung my first dish on the antenna tower back in 1994. One LNB. A gift from my mom. Best gift ever. Thanks mom!

Been with them ever since, like many, considering leaving because of Sunday ticket. It's going to be a really sad day if I do leave. I love so many feature that are convenient to me. Little things like the DTV apps, weather and scoreguide, easy access to Pandora without switching to a streaming stick, or smart TV. I love the cast info and rotten tomatoes ratings in the descriptions. I've gotten to the point with my ADD that I can't imagine watching without double play. Sorry if I got off topic and rambled.

DIRECTV service is very convenient that is one reason why I am staying. All these folks want streaming let them go. I will remain with DIRECTV until I am just forced out. I feel like we will be forced at some point to stream like anything else electric vehicles for example soon everyone will have to have one. We’ll all be forced to stream at one point also.

Got it 96 but had to switch to Directv Stream 3 months ago when I moved to condo community where there was no place to put a dish.
Just a few moments I surely remember...
18 inch RCA dish and that legacy RCA receiver (still in my storage somewhere, I’ll try to find it and snap a pic)
Football Cards
Sidecar Dishes
NFLST commercials
DIRECTV ‘Get Rid of Cable’ Commercials
D10, HR24
DIRECTV/AT&T chaos
And so on and so forth..
September of 1994.

Fiance' had done a paper on USSB for her MBA program so I knew about it and what was coming. We got married and bought a house in September of 1994. But the house was on a new street that hadn't been completely built out, so no cable yet.

While we were on our honeymoon, my dad had DirecTV/USSB hooked up at our new house. Been with them ever since.

I got DirecTV the first week in September 1994, the first week it was available in Iowa, and had service with them until February of 2023. DirecTV was great for us, and if they still have Sunday Ticket, I'd still have them.
Anybody remember Beth and Pete telling us how to change out the access card ?
Signed up in 2002, the day that DISH decided that sports was not a priority and refused to carry YES Network when that channel was created. Outside of about 6 months where I left for DirecTV Stream in 2021 (and about 2 weeks on Optimum...horrible) I've been on Satellite.
Had BUD until DTV obtained the NFLST rights which forced me to sub way back then-think 1997 I think since last year was the 25th NFLST anniversary on DTV.
Switched over to Stream recently since no more ST and the charges for box's and whole home, etc were out of line.
Saves me about $50 per month.
