How many "big four" series are you watching? (2012-2013)

So, this covers only the big four networks which are ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC.

1. Which "big four" series are you watching "live"?
2. Which "big four" series are you DVRing for later viewing?
3. How does that compare to 2007-2008 and why?

Note: 2007-2008 was the big writer's strike.

1. NONE.
2. Only the Amazing Race
3. ABC: Lost, NBC: Heroes, CBS: Amazing Race, CSI Trio, Criminal Minds. Much too busy with work, education, and Toastmasters.

1. None (although sometimes I turn into BBT live)
2. 11 different shows (12 counting Chicago Fire which is cued up this week; won't know if I am going to continue until after I've watched a few).
3. A lot less of your four networks. Not because of the writer's strike though, but because of the larger offerings on non-traditional networks like TNT, USA, Syfy, Discovery, et. al.

Hard to answer with a lot of details... I'm behind on some viewing and also not sure what I remember watching 4-5 years ago.

That said...

I mostly watch sports live... so that forces me to DVR a lot of prime time on the big four. I then have enough conflicts that it ends up easier to just DVR everything and watch stuff from the night before and keep going that way... so I'm almost never watching scripted stuff Live anymore... but sports (like right now watching Sunday Night Football live on NBC) I will watch live.

Revolution, Bones, NCIS, NCIS: LA, Go On, New Girl, Last Resort, Fringe, CSI: NY, The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time, Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, The Cleveland Show

I may have missed a few... I have some others (The Mob Doctor, Elementary, for instance) on my DVR that I wanted to look at but haven't started yet so I don't know if I'll be sticking with them.

I also watch a lot of things on other channels, some going some on hiatus... so that affects what I watch and what I DVR depending on how to most efficiently use the limited number of tuners I have.

I do feel like I'm watching a lot more on the "big four" this season than in years past, though. Nothing against the big four in general, some of my favorites air on them every season... but it seems to me like I'm watching more this season than the last few.

Pretty much all non-sports programming is DVRed for me.

NBC: Revolution, Grimm, Parenthood
FOX: New Girl, Raising Hope, Fringe (my wife also watches Bones)
ABC: The Middle, Modern Family, Wipeout, AFV
CBS: Big Bang Theory

I'm pretty sure we are watching more now than we did five years ago, primarily because we stay home more now that we have two small children.

Our changes have come about more to due to personal life than anything. By the time, we finish dinner, help the kids with their homework and get them off to bed it's close to 8:30 or 9 and having to get up at 4am restricts the number of hours you can devote to the TV.

With the exception of sports I seldom view live TV on the four networks. I use my PC and newspaper for local news and record anything else for viewing at my convenience.

About half as many series now as back then (10 vs. 19). The broadcast shows have all been replaced by series on cable channels....

AMC: The Walking Dead, Mad Men
USA: Neccessary Roughness, Fairly Legal
TNT: Major Crimes
BBCA: Luther, Dr. Who
SyFy: Warehouse 13
HBO: Boardwalk Empire, Newsroom
Showtime: Homeland, Nurse Jackie

The OP prompted me to check my HR34, and I was surprised to see 53 network shows in the Series Manager:

CBS 21
NBC 14
FOX 7
ABC 11

This include 5 daytime shows, 2 late-night shows and a few shows that aren't currently airing. Unforgettable, Idol, Whitney and Smash come to mind.

All DVR'd for later viewing. Haven't watched some of these yet, and may not, if they're cancelled. I don't recall exactly what I was recording in 2007-2008.

None - thanks to the "skip" button we never have to watch anything live.

2. Which "big four" series are you DVRing for later viewing?

DWTS, X-Factor, The Voice, BB, SYTYCD, The Amazing Race, Survivor, AI, Elementary, Touch, Wipeout, AGT, Apprentice, Smash, SNF, Underground Boss, Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, Hell's Kitchen.

3. How does that compare to 2007-2008 and why?

A lot of programs that we watched have been cancelled, but our viewing preferences are basically unchanged. During the strike we actually had more of our favorite (reality) shows being aired.

1. None, other than some occasional football and basketball games
2. Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, CSI, CSI NY, local news and sportscasts, NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
3 All of #2, except Blue Bloods, which wasn't on then. Also watched Fringe and Nikita, but eventually lost interest in them. There were a few other shows that have been discontinued.
