how to get premium channel discounts?

I was a sub for 9 years until April when I called in and set up cancellation because they refused to give me a halfway decent deal for the HR34 and "whole home" setup. Long story short, they cut my service off before the setup cancellation date.

So,when I called back in the next morning, they apologized for the "error" then offered me a new 2 year deal complete with NFL Ticket, the HR34 for 99 bucks, and wired "whole home" for free.

Long story short, I think I lost my "valued customer" reputation cuz now they won't cut any deals on movie channels like they used to. Wondering if you have to be a customer for a year or something perhaps?? Just seems odd they used to always have deals.

Or do I need to call into retentions?? Gotta be a way to get some deals. All I want to do is add Showtime and usually they'd give it either free for 3 months, or 5 bucks off/month for 6 months....

Any idea's on how to proceed?

Thanks!

You got about $800.00 worth of credit just on that install, will probably be awhile before you qualify for any more freebies.

I'm basically in the same situation. Received an HR34, WHDVR and installation for no upfront cost about 6 months ago. Also, have the free HD for 24 months. I was able to get NFL ST for $99, but even that was hard to get. Any other promo's I've been offered have been things like 6 months of Showtime for half price. Another 18 months of commitment to go, before I can expect any other major offers.
if you call in asking for things they note it and treat you accordingly. I found this out then I asked them a question about my bill and the csr told me 'youre the kind of customer we like'. I said what does that mean to which they said, you dont call us and you pay your bill on time. the csr said 'Ive never seen an account like yours so I would be glad to see what I can do for you'. thats verbatim what she said. they gave me essentially 35 dollars off my bill for 6 months. so those who game the system have been found out. dont do it.

So several hundred dollars of free stuff in the past six months? I'm surprised they offer you anything right now. At some point they do need to start making money from your account.

I'm sure that I'm not their most profitable account. Although at $100/mo, they are making money. Throw in the $100 one time for NFL ST and if they ever have an NHL season another $100 or so for that. Not to mention, it might be an $800 price tag at retail for the equipment I received for free, but its not even close to that at cost.
Here's a great deal on Starz/Encore:

Tune in from November 21-25!! It's free...even to "bad" customers.
I called in to cancel my Showtime, last week and the gave me HBO/Cinemax for $4.99 a month for 3 months. First time in ages, since I've got a deal on HBO.
