how would the 10-6-08 issues effect installations

Might give the installer a headache if the glitch hit at the right time

Would be luck and timing, and possibly could just freeze up the receivers will they are trying to install them.

asking because I'm bored, no other reason than that.
I expected they could act like that but did not know for sure where they are being activated.

I installed 3 hr21's today. No issues.

And wouldn't do much for new customer confidence in the units or DirecTV.

But his point was that there was still nothing that could have been done at the time the potential for a problem was posed so no sense wasting energy on it.

I did one today a refurb HR20-100 was about 1:30 central when trying to power up the unit. It acted like it was doa, I had to pull the plug on it 3 times before it came on. The hard drive spun up but no video.

out of curiosity did everything work ok after it finally came up?

The only issue I ran into was longer than normal hold times due to fools calling in thinking the sky was falling.

I know some csr's had 1500+ queued up just for them. I tried to get through to billing but the system kept pointing me to tech support so I had to go there to get manually switched.

Yea no sh(k)itting!

Installed one today and while it was downloading I noticed the screen went blank. Thought the box died, but heard the fan going. Unplugged a couple of times and all of a sudden it said 'receiver in standby mode' then download was complete and all was good. Forgot about it until I got home and my relative called with problems and I then read about it online.
