HR-20 & HR-23 on one cable feed from dish?

I will be moving to a different house soon, and have a connectivity question.... I have two DVR's attached to my living room TV, HR-20 & HR-23. (one is for 'our shows', and the other is for my wife's shows.) Currently, there are 4 cables coming from the satellite dish to the two DVR's. That seems to make some sense, since each DVR has two tuners.

With interest, I've been reading the HR-34 messages, and love the 'one cable' concept. I am very interested in the HR-34's, but all the messages about bugs are making me leery.

After further reading, it appears that with a SWM dish and 4 way splitter, I could use one cable run into the house from the dish and feed both tuners on both of my existing DVR's. Is that correct? If so, that may be the way to go for now. I'd hate to run 4 cables through the wall of the new house, but I'm also not feeling the 'warm and fuzzy' about the HR-34.

So... can my 2 DVR's be fed from one cable run? Is that type of install something that the D* installer should be able to handle?

Also, what are your thoughts on the HR-34.... is it very buggy, or are only the people experiencing bugs posting messages and there are a lot of (quietly) satisfied users out there?

Thanks for your time and knowledge!

If all your receivers are SWM compatible, the movers order will be SWM, and only require one line to the room. The HR20 and HR23 are SWM compatible.

The HR34 has it's bugs, but so do the HR2x family. The 34 is newer, so there are a few more to work out. If you're happy with the HR2xs, you'll be happy with a 34.

Yes, with SWM, you only have 1 cable from the dish. This cable can use green-label splitters for up to 8 tuners (16 tuners with a SWM16). In your case, you could have 1 cable from the dish to the living room which feeds a 2-way splitter. The 2-way splitter would feed 1 cable to each DVR (SWM DVR's only need 1 input cable, but still have 2 tuners).

:)
Thanks for the info, dielray and mcbeevee! I feel better knowing that I can have a single cable run into the new house, no matter if I get a HR34 or not. :)
So... I called the D* 'movers connection' and told them that I want to upgrade to the HR34 when I move. I am getting my wish, for the price of $99.00. I'm okay with that. :) One cable, one DVR, more simple life.... priceless!
