HR-21-700 Searching For Satellite

I am constantly getting a searching for satellite message about twice a week. If i reboot my dvr it is fine and it works again. It usually only affects the hd channels and mostly seems to affect the regional sports channels.

The next time it happens, could go into Setup>Satellite (or Sat&Ant) and view your signal strengths, then post them here?
I have been having a very similar issue with mine. A reset seems to fix it for a couple of days and then it pops back up again. My HR21-700 did it again this morning.
I have this problem all the time on Tuner 2, Satellite 103...I think I've got a bad tuner. Is it possible that the tuner can only be defective for reception of 1 satellite? It's all good on my other HR21...
Personally, I think it is a software problem. My problem is usually on tuner 2. I have swapped DVR locations and when I put a different DVR at this location it didn't exist. Plus, I have been seeing alot of post about it lately.
I've been having this same problem for a few weeks now on my HR21-700. It's always on tuner 2 and a reboot always fixes the problem for a few days. Next time it does it I will see if I still have signal strength on other transponders.
I have been seeing a lot of this on service calls lately, sometimes I can replicate it, and sometimes not.

It has been happening particularly on sidecar dishes, even with very high and well peaked signal strength on both hr20 and 21s.

This has been a really big issue to troubleshoot the past couple of days with no solid resolution.
Excatly...my problem..searching for signal on 110 sattellie
This has been happening to my HR21. I get 771 message for Tuner 2 a reset cures it. I am using a SWMLine and my HR20s do not manifest this problem at all.

Whn it happens my Tuner 1 numbers on 101 are in the high 90s and Tuner 2 on 101 are zero.

This began with the release before the 255
Happening to me also at least once a week. Today I turned it on and it was searching for tuner #2. Did a reset, and it will be fine again until the next time.
I just started to get a similar issue with my HR21-200. Except mine is on tuner 1. Swapped cables still Tuner 1 no good. All sat's show 0 for the signals on Tuner 1. Will this thing work with only Tuner 2 connected?
My HR21-700 did this again today. I checked the signal strength for tuner 2 and had zero on all satellites, and then as I was scanning thru all of the satellites to be sure they were all at zero, I started getting a signal. Now I have good signal on all satellites and I didn't have to reboot this time. This has to be a software issue.
Directv already swapped out my HR21-700 and i am still having a problem with the new HR21-700, also i used to have cables that went from the multi switch in the basement to a switch plate on the wall and cables came off of that, but now i have a home run, a straight run through from the multiswitch all the way to the HR21-700 and i am still having this problem. Apparently i have the first generation 5 KNLB Dish and they are coming to put a new dish on tomorrow.

Let us know if it goes away with your new dish. I am assuming you have the sidecar AT-9.
I have been having the same problem with both of my HR21's - and it has been driving me nuts. I called DirecTV about it on Saturday, and they told me that there was some kind of problem and they were looking into it. She didn't have any other details. Hopefully whatever the cause is, is fixed soon.
They came and installed the new dish, the installer said that our old dish was majorly out of alignment, now ofcourse he could have been bsing us, because that makes him look good and all cause none of the previous technicians went up there at all. There is no way to tell if it was out of alignment or not, most of the time i dont believe what comes out the mouth of the technicians, or the csr's. They put the new sidecar dish on and i havent had any problems yet, but i will ce it tonight
Count me in. I used to have this problem a lot with one of my two units. It went away a few National releases ago. Seems to be back now.
Went from channel 720 to 518, tuner #2 no longer there. Reset to fix the problem. Happens at least once a week for the last 5 months.
I woke up to "search for signal on tuner2" on CBSWHD - I have no idea what satellite that's on. I changed channels a few times and the message disappeared. Without DLB, though, I have no which tuner I'm using so I'm not positive that I've cleared the problem, must I reboot to be sure?
I have been having this problem from time to time only since receving 0x0255. A reboot takes care of it but when I view signal strengths nothing happens - no readings what so ever. All my channels come in but no readings - not zeroes but the dashes never fill in.
Anybody else see this or have any ideas?
