I'm puzzled .... my DVRs and Receivers automatically detect they're connected to a SWM. I don't have to specify anything in the setup.
I thought I was alone on this. Where is that option to select SWM or a Multiswitch?litzdog911 said:I'm puzzled .... my DVRs and Receivers automatically detect they're connected to a SWM. I don't have to specify anything in the setup.
If you reset the receiver with the RED button, while it is booting up (the Step 1 of 2: Detecting Satellite settings....) Hit the MENU button. There is an option there to "Repeat Satellite Setup." I think you can also find it under the Menu->System->Sat->Repeat Satellite Setup.Radio Enginerd said:I thought I was alone on this. Where is that option to select SWM or a Multiswitch?
I too am puzzled, never seen it.
Thanks for the information. I had no idea you could press menu during the boot up process to bring up those choices.davros74 said:If you reset the receiver with the RED button, while it is booting up (the Step 1 of 2: Detecting Satellite settings....) When you select dish type, you should get a switch choice of 1: Multiswitch or 2: SWM. The receiver normally autodetects this on bootup, but if you switch dish types or switch types you may have to manually change it, or I would recommend a complete RED button restart or power cycle when changing things that major.
Once it detects the SWM, for me, the switch setting becomes greyed out and you can not longer change the switch type once the receiver knows it is in SWM mode. Also, once it has properly detected the SWM, when you go to Signal Strength in the System menu, the last "Satellite" entry is SWM, which shows the 9 SWM "transponders". (Will be left(-) from the 101 sat strength meter).

Seems like you've maxed out your SWM capacity ....socalphunk said:i've got a similar issue. Here's what we have going on:
I've got 8 HR-21's connected to (2) 8 way SWM splitters. The 8 work fine (after a couple reboots and software updates) but the 9th receiver just installed is not receiving any of the MPEG 4 HD or the locals. We've tried a legacy output to do a SW update, which worked, but we still don't receive all the programming. All the TV's in the house are getting a SWM output and a diplexed camera feed, all of which work fine, except for the latest receiver. We've even tried bypassing the diplexer to no avail. Any ideas?
