I have an HR-24 500 HD DVR and would like to know if the HR-34 is as quiet?

When they are both cool, yes. When the HR34 gets hotter, the larger fan makes more noise.

Thanks for the quick response. I have been very pleased with the quietness of my HR-24 DVR, especially so when playing online chess. I assume with TV off there wouldn't be a difference in quietness.

While watching a movie and there isn't sound, not silent movies , sounds like there may very well be a difference.
