Seems as if my box is going crazy lately, or the HD is going.

Anyway to do anything about this without calling them?

Occasionally, when I use Double Play, one of the channels will freeze/pixelate but if I go to the other channel and then back all is good. I have the HR34-700 model. Usually it works great.

This is all on recordings on the DVR. It will freeze and I have to FF to get past the mark where it is frozen. Happened on quite a few of my recordings from the past couple of days.
your HDD require attention, when you reboot try press Select on face panel then run HDD diagnostics

Which test should I run?
I have no exactly menu (no HR34 here), something Short/Long test, perhaps SMART tests

OK, I can the surface tests, I'll run the others later!

Thanks for the help :)
Believe that the test(s) take awhile, so be prepared..
normally a couple hours, if the drive is dying - days :(

That's why I did recommend (if you can connect SATA cable to the drive) use MHDD to take out SMART table first, then run some tests what you will control: short, long, etc

Yeah, the surface test took 2-3 hours, but passed 100%
Perhaps bad solder, worst case BGA chips like main [a la CPU] or/and MPEG decompressor(s) if there are separate.
