Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if folks knowledgeable about the HR10-250 and HR20 could help me. Haven't contacted DirectTV because I want to have my ducks in a row first.

I purchased a lifetime subscription to TIVO years ago and now my original TIVO (which is tied to my subscription) is dying (constantly rebooting). I am thinking of moving to the HR20 as a replacement but:

1. I really love the TIVO interface and features. Anyone know what I would be losing with the HR20?

2. Anyone have a mix of DirecTV DVR's and TIVO? How do they handle the monthly charges?

3. How much would an HR20 cost?

Any insight would be really appreciated!!

If you really like your Tivo/want to keep your lifetime subscription you might want to consider having it repaired. Weakknees and several other firms can diagnose the problem(s) and perform the repairs

If your TiVo is a standalone TiVo, Steve, then Lifetime is tied to the unit. If you bought the Lifetime on a DirecTV Receiver with TiVo unit, then Lifetime is on your account. I have seen some folks assert that you have to have an active D-TiVo on your account in order to keep your Lifetime in effect, but usually it's the hard drive that goes bad on DVRs and, as tds4182 states, those are replaceable.
