Simple, basic question... newbie here trying to figure out why are the HR10-250 boxes more expensive than the new HR20 dvr's? irst time I have seen discontinued equipment does not loose value, it increases its value !

Trying to figure out which HD DVR, any suggestions are very welcome.

Happy Holidays !

It is because people like the TiVo interface and it is hackable. Since the supply is dropping due to DirecTV not making them anymore the price is increasing. I have used both DVRs and I will say there are some positives and negatives to both. If you have never used a TiVo I would go with the newer unit the HR20 unless you are looking to hack it.

it is also becaue the cost of the box is subsidized by DTV..originally it was to be $599..now it's $299 everywhere ....DTV won't subsidize sales or offer rebated on HR10-250..they want them all to disapeer.

Buy the HR20 and use the extra money to buy the episodes it fails to record off Itunes...you still might end up ahead slightly....
