So I was at my local big box store this weekend and I found a 750GB Seagate Free Agent Pro (Firewire 400/eSATA/USB 2) for $149.99. Seems like an insane deal.

I'm thinking about getting one on my lunch break. I know FAP's don't work on HR21-700's but what about the HR20-700?

I had no problems with the 750GB FAP on my HR20-700 last year.

It installed the first time and ran for a couple of months before I moved it to another HR.

You should have no problems.

Does that deal sound pretty sweet to you?

I think I've read FAPs have issues with HR21s. So if your HR20-700 croaks and they replace it with an HR21, you may end up with an expensive bookend.

I'd look for one that is compatible with all the boxes including Dish in case you change providers.

That's a good deal, RE.

True that it won't work with an HR21, but if that happens, I'm sure you can find a use for the drive elsewhere.

Besides, by the time that happens, 1.5 terabyte drives will probably cost about 19 cents.

Sounds good to me. IIRC, I paid $199 last fall.

However, it makes me wonder how low the 1TB drive cost might be... :scratchin
