Well we had a real nasty storm roll through here late yesterday . Lots of lightning , hail and rain. When the storm ended I noticed that I now get a searching for Sat 771 error on all my local HD channels :( I also get it on some HD national channels. I did what some recommended on the site but it hasn't helped. I think I need a realignment . Here is what I have done.

1) Reset via the menu
2) Reset via the red button
3) disconnected both coax then plugged them back in
4) removed the B-band connectors ( they are back on now )
5) redid the sat setup and made sure 5lnb was checked

attached are my signals . Looks like 103 and 99 is screwed. Is there anything I need to check before I call directv to realign the dish. Its too high up for me to do . Will they charge me?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You have a bad switch if you have one or a bad lnb thats what I think from some of my experiences, AND do you have thos signals on both tuners

If your locals are on 99(s), which doesn't require BBC's, and you think both your BBC's went bad (which would be unusual), see what your 99(s)'s are like on both tuners without them.

Most problems with no odds or evens, like you're having with the 103(c)'s are caused by connector or multi-switch problems, not BBC's or LNB's. Having this problem on just one tuner would point strongly to a connector problem.

I would suggest calling DirecTV and having them send out a repair person. It sounds like a dish alignment issue. If you're comfortable doing that kind of work yourself there's plenty of information on how to fix an alignment in this forum.

If you don't have the protection plan a repair visit should cost around $80.

I removed the BBC's and 99(s) signal strength stayed the same :( Im pretty sure its an alignment issue now.

With those 103(c) signals in the 70's, a re-alignment would certainly be in order. But missing all your 103(c) evens is not an alignment issue.

Can you easily access the cable connections at your dish? It's not hard to simply check that they're snug, dry and corrosion-free before calling for a realignment.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I gave up trying to figure it out and have a tech coming out Thursday morning. Ill let you know what he finds.

Also I noticed that I get TNT SD fine but TNTHD gives me a 721 Channel not purchased error. It's the only channel I get that message on. Any ideas?? I figured I'd wait till my dish is fixed before I look into it but just thought I'd ask. I have TOTAL CHOICE® Plus and HD access.

Perhaps you also need to refresh the services for the receiver. This will require you to first fill out the log in screen.
