Is it too bright if you hook it directly to the TV, bypassing the Denon? If it looks ok going directly to the TV then the HR unit is probably not at fault. If it is bright going directly to the TV, then you may have a problem with the HR unit.

It is the same when it is hooked to the TV with HDMI as through the Denon Receiver. (Too bright)LarryFlowers said:Is it too bright if you hook it directly to the TV, bypassing the Denon? The other sources that all are working great on HDMI connections are PS3, TVIX M6500A, and Apple TV.inkahauts said:Except we don't know what the other units are and what what he has adjusted all his setting to...
Have you adjusted your TV's settings so that they are way down from full on brightness and contrast, as that is how most tvs are set out of the box. And what other sources are you watching through your HDMI connections? Is it a top end DVD player? Does it have adjustments to change brightness and contrast? If so, Set your tv correctly for the HR20 and then adjust the other units individually, and you should be good. Not saying thats whats happening, but it could be...
I was using the component through the receiver (It upconverts the signal from component to HDMI) and it works perfect just like before when I ran the HR20 through component. When I run straight HDMI to the TV ot receiver it has the brightness issue.Steve said:The HDMI output is completely digital, so I don't see how the brightness and contrast values of the file on disk can be altered, but maybe there's something I'm missing about how the HDMI signal is processed by the HR?
How does the component output from the HR look compared to the HDMI? Before you check, make sure your TV's component input brightness/contrast settings are the same as the HDMI's. (Some displays have different "picture memories" for each input). /steve
