Is there any way yet to add an extra hard drive via the eSATA on the box?

while we can't yet backup to Blu-Ray. it would be nice to keep content for more than a week, we tape alot of shows.

You can't "add" drives via eSATA.

When connecting a larger drive via eSATA, it replaces the internal drive.

So if you add a 750gb external... you now have 750gb of space... not 1,050.

You can hook up an eSATA hard drive but it will replace the internal not add to it. I currently have 2 500 GB drives in a RAID 0 configuration plugged into my HR-20. Just hookit up and reboot, the HR-20 automatically formats the drive. You will, however, not be able to access the internal drive while the external is connected and you will have to reprogram all your series links on the new hard drive. If you unplug the eSATA drive and reset the HR-20 you will go back to the internal drive just like you left it. Also, this is a feature that is not supported by D* so you can't call them if you have problems with the setup.

got a maxtor 500GB SATA drive from frys.com today for $129+tax. I plan to put two of them in a thecus N2050UD
