HR20 and NFL Player Tracker - NOOOOO!

Have finally fully diagnosed a good chuck of my lockup problems, which may lead to other theories as well.

I had about 3 lockups again early in the 1Q in action on Sunday

I usually set the Player Tracker up with 9 of my fantasy players.

Well, I have always gotten lockups when flipping through the HD feeds (notably going from 720P on Fox to 1080i on CBS).

Well, finally said damn it, and shut down the player tracker. Miracuously, no more lockups the entire Sunday.

While this pisses me off as its a feature I like and PAY FOR. But I do not think the HR20 can handle the HD, the flipping of resolutions and the Player Tracker at the same time. Sometimes I think the Player Tracker is about to update when I flip the channel, thus locking the son of a bicth up.

This sucks, but I believe 100% this is whats causing the lockups in my situation. And its a shame, as D* should have had that ready to go.

Maybe it could be some of the interactive stuff is causing conflicts in normal situations as well...I dont know...

Again, its a workaround that stinks, but its a solution for me and saves me a few four letter words directed at D* on Sundays....although, man, I wish D* didnt have the ticket....I am to the end of my rope with them....:nono2: :nono2: :nono2:

Player tracker works fine for me. No lockups.

Hey interesting theory. You know what I just figured out last weekend? Changing resolutions and scalings may be a big part of the "trick plays stop working" bug too.

My TV is a Samsung 1080p DLP. Normally I leave "Native" off and have the HR20 scale everything to 1080i and just let my TV de-interlace it all to 1080p. As an experiment, a time or two I have told the HR20 that my TV also supports 480i and 720p, just to see how the TV scaler compares to that of the HR20.

Now bear in mind that I've only done this a couple of times over the past few weeks, but that I've only had a couple of instances when the HR20 trick-plays totally stopped working.

Well anyway, after I did this while watching a 720p football game on Fox, my trick-plays totally stopped working until I changed the channel and cleared the buffer and then came back. After that they all worked fine again. Sensing a connection, I told the HR20 just to scale everything to 1080i again (difference in scalers wasn't big enough to matter to me much) and stopped letting the HR20 pass on any different resolutions to my TV.

So I think you're onto something about resolution changes being connected to HR20 issues. I don't use Player Tracker so I don't know if that's part of it or not.
