I have a HR 20 and whenver a program records now the light is red, instead of green. I believe it has to do with forcing an update previously but am not sure. How do I get this back to normal. Thanks.

The light color was changed in the recent software upgrade sent down by DirecTV.

There is no user-controlled way to change it.

Just curious but why does it matter? :) I would rather it be red.

Green? The light was never green.

The light was changed from Yellow to Orange in the last National Release for the HR20-700 so that the light would match the color on the HR20-100 and HR21's.

Yellow, orange, purple, red, green, or whatever color all that matters is that the box is recording what it's supposed to. Its Friday lets all be happy....:D

I think the point is that they did it without really advertising the fact. This would be akin to a city deciding that they didn't like the color of the stoplights and they needed to be changed and did it without any sort of warning.....

Not a valid comparison. Changing a stop light without warning someone will cause deaths. The record light going from whatever color you saw it as to the one it is now is something that will never affect your life.

It would cause confusion which is what it did. Accidents and death would be a byproduct of the change itself and the ensuing confusionand not necessarily a result.

Really, based on the relative stupidity of people you never know if it might cause a death. You'd think a large electric bill wouldn't cause a death, but I just saw one in the news recently, or a foreclosure, or a job loss...Someone might think that the amber light has marked them for death....remember the "Black spot" in pirate lore...or voodoo dolls.....not saying it will, but there is always the possibilty...

The point goes back to that DTV should have had one of those little popups after a sw update that said something to that effect....but then again, communication isn't their strong point.

OK, folks, I think that we've strayed a little off the track here. The original poster asked if there was a color changed, and there was. Let's stay polite and friendly :)

You arent understanding what Im saying. LAST weekend the light was more orange/red. When recording last night(wasnt home all week), it was almost yellow again.

Very strange. And yes, its not a big deal, but just sweeping it under the rug without reading whats actually happening doesnt help. There was not a new SW release this week. Correct? If not, why has it changed since last Sat?

The NR began on 7/16. Maybe it just hit your dvr last week while you were gone?
