Hi All,
I'm about to make my Remote Choice. And after search and search again...I'm leaning slightly to the 880, but I would like your input. Please, no "get this remote instead" limit it to the Harmony 880....

...list as many pro's and con's as you can... What I want to know is if it is comfortable in my hand (like the SD Tivo remote I have) with my thumb positioned over the trickplay functions. Does it macro so I can turn all my stuff on...Have you experienced the recharge in base problems....volume controlled by DVD player and not tv ok? ...etc....just tell me everything you can think of and don't post if it is a "its great" or "it sucks" reply....I'm loooking for a little more meat than that.

Thanks in advance...

Have you done a search here in this Forum? Because there have been recent threads on the 880 that went on for page after page. My short answer (which you don't want) is it's great, very customizable through the Harmony web site interface, and does everything we need it to do and more.

The defaults on the Harmony site for the 880 need a little tweaking: the 30-second Slip doesn't work right and has to be learned from the HR20's remote and the default "Watch PVR"activity doesn't include the colored buttons, which may or may not matter to you. However, there are four unused "soft" buttons next to the LCD for this activity which can be programmed to cover these functions. In fact, every button on the remote can be reprogrammed to whatever function you want.

It's comfortable in the hand though not quite as comfortable as the Tivo peanut, and the transport controls aren't quite as intuitive. But overall I like it and more important, so does my wife.

I love my Harmony 880 remote. I upgraded from the Harmony 676, and it was very easy to do. If you are a first time buyer, it will take a bit of time to figure out how to configure it using the Harmony remote website. It can be a pain for some folks, but I think that it is worth the time to figure it out and get it right. If you already have a Harmony remote, the upgrade is painless and fast.

Search this forum for "Harmony 880" and I'm sure you'll find a lot of people, myself included, gushing over it.

The first time I programmed my 880 for the HR20, I had to tweak the slip/ff/back functions. A few days ago, I reprogrammed my 880 because I replaced my pre/pro unit. This time, I didn't tweak any of the functions. It would appear the online database has been updated because the untweaked 880 now mimics the original remote perfectly.

I use the 880 and for me it does everything great.

The only con I have is the buttons are to small and close together. I guess I just like the buttons on the Universal Remotes brand better.

You're gonna have a hard time finding a buyer considering you can easily find it at many online retailers for $150 or less. Amazon has it for $154...

Any surprises with the 880 when upgrading from the HR10 to the HR20?
Define surprise's.

They are completely different units. I just went straight to adding the HR20 as a device and then creating a whole new activity. You just keep tweaking the configuration like everything else.

I also went straight from the HR10 to the HR20 on the 880 with no problems - had to change the slip button as already mentioned. I also change the guide button to double-press ... :)

I actually never used the HR20's remote except to double press the guide button for the IR learning...
