HR20 Audio Question

Hi There-

I have an HR20 connected to my Samsung HDTV via the component video outputs and when I watch TV, I have to really crank the volume in order to hear anything and when I'm able to hear it, the sound is very thin and tinny. I have an XBOX360 connected to the TV via an HDMI cable and whenever I play a game or watch a movie, the sound is fantastic. Very full, rich and I don't have to turn the volume up to the 30's in order to hear it. Will connecting the HR20 to the TV via a single HDMI cable and nothing else improve my sound?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm not as technically gifted as you folks so please be gentle.

How is the HR20 connected to your Samsung for audio?

The regular Audio Out RCA cables.
Your TV has 2 HDMI inputs (at least)?

If so, then yes, definately switch to HDMI from the HR20 to the TV.

I take it you're not using an external audio receiver and speakers?

No, just the built-in TV speakers. After I connect it via the HDMI cable, do I need to change anything in the DirecTV setup or will it detect it automatically for both the video and sound?
You don't need to change anything. All the outputs on the HR20 are active at the same time and HDMI automatically carries audio and video.

You might need to change settings on your TV though.
