Hello to All,

My HR20 is being installed this Saturday and from reading the forums I've read mixed reviews on using HDMI due to some kind of problems.

Have those problems been resolved, should I go with HDMI or VGA?

Will D*TV provide the cables or should I purchase them and have them ready for the installer?

I currently have a D*TV Tivo unit and was planning on moving that up to my tv set in the bedroom. I noticed that there was a way to have the HR20 run off two tv's. Would this be a good idea? Or would it be best to have two separate DVR's?

Thanks for the help!

The vast majority of HDMI issues, have been resolved by the latest software updates.

There are mixed reports if the Installer will supply the HDMI cable for you.

I would say better for two DVRs, as you then have independent control of them, and basically can record 4 things at once.

Thanks for the help.

In regards to audio, would optical cables be the best?

I have a surround sound but run everything the "old way," and would like to not only have the best picture but also the best sound.

If you are sending the optical to a Stereo/Amp; then yes... Optical is the way to go.

Thanks again.

One last question. Currently with my D*TV SD TIVO, when a show is about to cut to commercials, or whenever there is an entire black screen, I see shadows and a fuzzy black picture. Could this be that my current connection is not the best, is it the tivo, a pinched cable coming from the dish?

Any ideas/suggestions?

Don't know anything about your TIVO. But, if you don't have an HDMI cable, be sure to ask the installer for one. If your TV supports it, they will install it. It isn't in the box, but installers carry them and I read they're told to install them. HDMI does seem to have a slower channel changing response, but really not too much of an issue. Use optical for audio. Mine was install last Saturday. So far, so good.

Unless things have changed very recently, most installers reported on this forum do not supply the HDMI cable. Some do, most don't.

I personally would connect to component initially, to make sure everything is OK with the HR20, and then try HDMI. There is a component cable in the box.

HDMI has worked perfectly all along on my Panasonic.
