HR20 Channel Search? Is there a better way?

829 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Twosted
Frequently I search channels 70, 71, 75, 78 and 520 for upcoming Movies. I find the channel search mechanism on the HR20 to be cumbersome and unfulfilling. Am I missing a short cut to get to a simple channel listing like the one presented by Tivo?

I am looking for an alternative to surfing thru the D* channel grid guide which I consider to be too time consuming.

With Tivo one can drill down to the "record programs/search by channel/all channels and select a day and channel number. From there, one can scroll forward thru the listings quickly and efficiently.

With the HR20 the only way I have found to do this is to go to menu/search and then to have to key in the channel name. Once I get there, it isn't too bad but it does take a lot of keystrokes.

Does anyone have a better technicque they might share with me?

Thanks.

Get to the guide.
Arrow to the left so the channel number is highlighted.
Click the Info button.
It may take 15 seconds or so but you will now have the entire 2 week guide data listing for just that channel.
and menu/search/by channel.. oh I just re-read you saw that... yeah the guide, left, info is GREAT and doesn't take precious search history space (only 25.. unreal.. ok whatever).. but warning.. it CAN seem like it's locked up.. can take a 1/2 a minute.

THEN.. not sure if it still does this with the latest software.. when you hit R to nab something on that list.. it takes like a FULL minute for the orange R to appear... hopefully this is fixed.. since if it isn't it's not worth using the info feature at ALL. way faster using channel search

I can't get this function to work anymore. It used to but not since the last software update. Is it working for anyone else?
Nevermind, it works. It just works a little different. It used to pause before it show any listings on the chosen channel. Now it will show what is currently on, and then if you wait a while the rest of the listings will show up.
