I have a HR20 coming in tomorrow afternoon (fedex). I have the old 3lnb dish, currently a R10. Question is, do I HAVE to have the new dish, or will I continue to receive the programming I have, just no HD channels? I have to wait on install, but do not want to wait on installing the receiver.

You need the new dish for mpeg4 HD local channels only. I have an old 3lnb dish and HR20 works fine with it, getting mpeg2 HD channels as well as SD channels.

Is there a list of which channels are mpeg2 and which are mpeg4?

mpeg-2 HD channels are 70-99. mpeg-4 channels show up next to your local channels as extra local channels (2, 4, 5, 7 etc).

All the HDTV stuff will be switching to MPEG4 eventually. So for now it'll work but eventually you'll have to get an AT9 dish.

have it installed(at9 or slimline) along with 4 lines... compression not crimped lines...rg6 not -59 and good luck......if you have any questions DURING the install Don't hesitate to POST!!
