What"s with all of thes programs i have scheduled to recored not recording< and in the history log they show as "cancelled"?

I tried to record a hockey game last night, and it was cancelled as well with a message saying: "This showing was partially recorded because it became unavailable. (13)"

My old Tivo box recorded it just fine.

This recevier is JUNK!

Was it part of the NHL Ice package? Or was it on your RSN or another channel.

There is a known issue with the HR20 recording from any of the extended sports packages (Center ICE, Extra Innings, Sunday Ticket, ect).

If some one who knows the defect can document it in the same format like in the Catalog of HR20 Bugs I will add it to the list.

While neither agreeing or disagreeing with the OP's assessment of the HR20, one would think that DirecTV would at least release a product that isn't "designed" to piss off their most "profitable" customer segment (sports subscribers).

That's some pretty bad juju there.

I'd be happy to take a stab at the documentation. There are a couple of ways this can occur, and I am not convinced they are the same: 1) Transient channel whereby the channel being recorded is not a fixed channel location/bandwidth. Example would be channel 95 or anything in the 700's. 2) Non-transient channel or local OTA that still has a partial recording that is deleted. Possbility due to transient guide data?

So, would you like two defect documents or one that describes both?

Cheers,
Tom

Those are two definently different issues.

It was the Center Ice channel. If this isn't taken care of soon, I certainly can't see sticking w D* much longer. The sports packages are the only reason I have D*.

What a piece of TRASH! I'm so glad I "upgraded" to HD.

I have a good understanding of the original partial bug, which I think latter describes, I thought that might of been killed in the latest release of code but I have seen a few posts that make me think it may still be lurking under the covers, it is just much more shy now days. I can tackle that one, if you can write up the one on the sports / Transient channel since I have no background on that partial bug.

This happens repeatedly with my RSN (YES network, NY area, not OTA), even hours after RBR. I'm about ready to cancel D*.

I am totally with you there, and I can suggest a possible workaround. I threatened D* with leaving over this (I too only have TV for NHL Center Ice), and they re-connected my old reliable TiVo at no cost for 6 months while they work on this one. In the meantime, I babysit the ToDo list, but if I miss one, the TiVo NEVER misses a recording (NEVER in 4 years of use). If you are lucky enough to still have a TiVo lying around, tell them to re-connect it until the HR20 POS is ready for release, or you will quit D*.

Brian, awesome job on the defect list!

As you have seen by now, I did both in one intending that you or I would edit as necessary. Let me know if I should edit either one.

Thanks,
Tom

I'm thinking about doing the same thing....my H10-250 is dying..but its still a damn sight better than the new HR20 that showed up here a week ago....I called D* last night, talked with a very nice tech and explained to him that the OTA tuners WERE indeed on, but were having a guide data/channel mapping issue, he INSISTED that I could scan for OTA, I explained that yes I could on the H10-250, NO on the HR20. PLUS all the reboots that I have done in this short of a time....his answer to me was not to trust it and wait on software updates. All of which I already knew from hanging out here. :D

He DID tell me, however, that D* is not sending out replacements willy-nilly, as the issues that the HR20 is having are SOFTWARE related, NOT HARDWARE. Hummmm....anyway...

He fixed me up with a 40.00 credit ,10.00/month for four months. He told me if D* doesn't get the issues handled in that time to call back again. So I get the HD package free, basically.....better than nothing, but I think my trusty D* Tivo is going back in service and I'll put the HR20 in a bedroom or something and wait. A DVR that doesn't work is .....a reciever.

I thought the POS statements were not going to be tolerated.
Calling the HR20 a POS is an opinion / comment about a piece of equipment.

Calling someone a POS should not be tolerated because it is about a person.

Big difference.

As I understand it, the forum the former is ok the latter is not.

How can they sell these extended sports packages to HR20 owners knowing there will be issues. I do not have to worry about it cause I dont get any of them but there should be a hge discount for HR20 owners that want to order these packages and will likely have trouble recording them.

You can still tune them in and watch them live...
Plus not everyone has "just" an HR20.

And there are some people who either have never had problems (don't ask me how...) or have seen improvements with recording NFLST of late (I'm in that category). I haven't seen comments as to improvements with Center Ice or NBA so I don't know if they have improved or not.

Cheers,
Tom
