I am supposed to be getting my new dish and HR20 DVR today after getting shafted on the first attempt. Anyways I am not concerned with enabling OTA. Should I just leave the box stock as it comes out of the box? I have read about shows not recording even though it appears they have. Will I be forced to install or reboot after an update?

The HR20 will automaticly download the latest version that has been released when you first boot it up!

Well... it might not be "right" when you boot it up...

But it wil be with in the first 3 hours of activation.

The software updates are not "optional", once they have gone national.

I recommend not doing anything until the unit updates itself. That's just common sense IMO. It seems like the best advice I can give you is:

-Don't hook up the network cable if you don't want to use it.
-Set your record defaults before you start setting up series links.
-Take it slow. It will take your guide data 24 hours to populate anyway.
-Read this forum religiously.

If you run into any problems repeat step four.
