I apologize in advance if this is a dupe of another thread but I've spent an hour combing this forum and haven't found an official thread on it yet, please direct me to it if there is. In the course of my search though I did find alot of useful info so congrats on a great forum. So let me state my understanding of it first and then ask my questions, please correct me if I am in error.
1)the new Directv HD DVRs are network enabled thru either ethernet or wireless
2)they currently allow you to stream content FROM your PC to your TV if you install their Media Share software on your PC
3)they currently don't allow the reverse (stream recorded shows to PCs)
4)for awhile it looked like they had goofed and left something open so that people were able to accomplish this using programs such as Nero. That hole has been permanently plugged and is no longer an option.
so my qst is, do they ever intend to allow streaming from the DVR to a PC and if so when?
also how much of a pipe dream is it that we will ever be able to archive our recorded shows to a standard un-encrypted format to burn to DVD, etc?
