wanted to connected up my h20 as a backup and OTA tuner with HR20. the H20 goes into the HDMI tv feed and the HR20 goes into the component inputs. HR20 Transponder numbers (satelitte 101) on tuner 1 are 95-100 but on tuner 2 the even numbers are 95+ and ALL the even numbers are 0. Is this the way it should be or should both tuner display the same transponder numbers? H20 transponders numbers are all populated.

I have four lines coming down from the 3lnb dish (NY mpeg2 locals). 2 go into a multi switch for my directivo units and basic directv units (old rca's) all working. the other 2 go into a 3x4 switch with 2 going to the HR20 and one going to H20 and the OTA is connected to the H20. Thanks.
Aha, here is your problem. All 4 lines from the dish need to go to a 4x8 switch which then would distribute the signals to all the receivers.

An individual tuner can be asking for signals from 1 of 4 sets of transponders:
Sat. 101, odd transponders
101, even
110 and 119, odd
or 110 and 119, even.

The switch forces each line from the dish to a known set, so it needs all four to pass on to the tuners.

Call D* and have them upgrade you to the new 5lnb dish with a new 6x8 switch for the 5lnb for free (ok, you might have to pay shipping). :) Hopefully you'll get a good CSR who will do that without any hassle.

Cheers,
Tom

Sounds like you will have more than 4 tuners after the H20 is removed so you will still need a multiswitch 4x8. D* should have upgraded the switch when they upgraded the dish and run all the lines from the dish to the new switch then to the receiver locations.

Don't count on a much smaller dish. ;) The slimline, AU/9, is likely as small as things are going to get. I am surprised he couldn't install to your location. Side of the house is an acceptable location if a stud is under the mast base.

Tom

Not to be a pain, but what happens if I need 4 x 10?
No problem. D*, at each upgrade of a dish, should give you enough switch ports for your recievers. In my case they gave me two 6x8 switches (the new 5lnb switch is a 6x8) and 4 special splitters to split the dish signals to the switches. (They pass power one-way to the dish.) The trick is to ensure the 4 lines from the dish are split and the split lines go to the same ports on the two switches...

Cheers,
Tom
