It's only been only 12 hours but with a standard Costco purchased 1TB MyBook + HR21-200 + Best Buy Dynex ESATA Cable I have had no problems.

Keeping my fingers crossed

I use the My Book 1tb World Book edition on my network. It's excellent

Please give us the full model number of the 1 TB drive, if you would. I'd like to look at it. I'm using a FAP 750 on my HR20-700 and it does fine, but of course that drive won't work on the HR21 series. I have an HR21-200 as well (with AM21 ota tuner), and would love to add something as easy as the drive you listed. What was the price?
Yes. I, too am curious.

The Model is WD My Book Home Edition 1TB Model WD10000H1CS-00, Costco Item #237242. It is regularly priced @ $199.99 but is $10 of through today. It is the only 1TB external WD My Book that I have ever seen in any Costco.

Do you have it wireless or hardwired? I am trying to figure out the best way to meet my needs. Maybe you all can help. Here is what I want to do.

1) I want to expand my DVR. I need to double check on the model.
2) The purpose for expanding my DVR is to record and store more sporting events.
3) I want to transfer my recordings to my computer, which is in the other room from my tv.

My questions then become:

How can I easily accomplish these wants? Can I connect the World Edition to my existing DVR and then network it to my cpu? That method would seem the simplest, but I am not sure if that can work.

Any insight? I would probably need to get another external hard drive for my computer as it is or just put in a new/additional one.
So I'm curious how many HD hours do you get to record onto a 1TB drive ...?

200-250 hours MPEG4 HD. It will vary depending on the content. Movies and other programming without much motion compress much better than, say, a football game.
