I had the picture freeze problem again today. Since the last software release, all three of my HR21-700s have had picture freeze problems. Today, I came home for lunch and the image was a freeze frame of a program that was on earlier. I tried to get it to play a stored program, and it acted like it was playting it, the progress meter was advancing as if the program was being played, but there was no audio or video. The menus all worked, and since I tried the menu reset last time, I thought I should do a power-down this time. If the picture freeze happens again, after the power-down reset, I'll post it. The machine came back and was working fine after the reset. Again, this never happeend to me before this latest software update.

All of the sudden around 5:30pm I got 771 error on tuner 2. I lost it on all channels HD and SD. I checked the signal meter and on it, I got all 0's on every transponder on every satellite. Tuner 1 was fine.

So, I did a menu reset and that did correct the problem. I have tried swapping receiver locations and the problem did not follow this receiver nor did it occur on the receiver that I put in it's place. I swapped BBC, cables, and also made sure the cable where the same length and none of these fixed the problem. So, does anyone have any ideas?

HR21-700 (system 3) - Not sure if it this was caused by the update or weather yesterday, but I decided to check signal strenghts this morning and had no signal on tuner 1. Performed a menu reboot and all is well.

Received the download night before last. CNN froze just after 7 CDT last night. Only solution was a red button reset.

I would like to report a bug, not specific to this version but all since having my unit since last December. I have a few XM music channel set as my favorites list, so when I flipping channels and briefly stop the channel #, title and description pop up on the screen, then you start changing channels again, it keeps the whole bar with descriptons on the screen for each channel and when you stop it will never go away on the screen until you hit the exit button on the remote.

I also am now getting the 771 error twice now in the last 3 days. I had never gotten this error before in the previous 6 months that I have had the HD DVR. A reset corrects it. Hopefully tonight there is a new CE update which will correct the problem.

Also... AM21 is still slow to response to FF, RW, Play, etc.... Seems to be worse the longer the recording.

If your D/Ling the CE just to have the new software then you are doing the CE for the wrong reason.

Mine has frozen twice. Sound continues, but picture is frozen. If I hit the exit button, just get a gray screen. Only solution is to red button reset.

This only started after the 0x0251 upgrade.

I normally download the CE, I was just stating that I hope the download corrects the issue. I also report issue when I run into them... hence my blurb above.

Was on a music channel after 2 hours of inactivity. Typed "2" into my remote (a local channel here in SF bay area). Nothing happened. Hit the Guide button, shows guide and PIP showed channel 2, but the guide was still centered on the music channel. Remote and/or system was basically dead at this point - couldn't change channel, coudlnt' get Guide to respond, nothing works.. Eventually, after 5 minutes, the Guide or remote control "caught up" and showed me Channel 2 in the PIP and on the guide. It felt like a true 5 minute lag from the time I inputted the commands into my remote, to the time that the DVR showed me the results of that input. During this "downtime", the light on the DVR stayed bright blue, and no remote control input made any difference to it - it was almost like the DVR was completely ignoring the remote.

I figured with the latest update and all the changes in the log, I'll do a good old fashioned restart receiver. So, this is after a restart approx 30 minutes prior to the above mentioned 2 hours of inactivity. Basically I restarted the DVR and played xbox for 2.5 hours

I have had the same problem with 0X235 Version since it was released as a NR on June 17th but never had that problem before so I know that it is a software problem or bug. Nothing has changed but the software version and a Reset corrects the problem. So the bug has been there since the 0X235 Version.

Two issues --

1 -- Still seeing some frame freezes on various channels. Audio still present.

2 -- Biggest area -- Slowness in changing channels -- it has gotten worse. When changing channels we get only the bar at the top, then a dark screen, then the new channel comes on. It appears the same from both the guide and manually changing the channels.

HR21-700

Slip forward is almost impossible while unit is recording two other channels. Unit pauses, skips and sputters through.

Last evening I was trying to use slip about half way through play back and somehow the progress bar jumped to the end of the recording, had to rewind back to where I was.

I'm receiving an upgrade as I post. I assume it's 251. I've been able to go fairly long periods without RBR'ing this unit but I haven't been without issues. With 235 I had continued issues with occasional temporary(2-3 minute) freezes which would unfreeze either with simple return of controls or one of the last commands happening. The most annoying behavior has occurred only during non-TNT NASCAR races where the picture routinely freezes briefly when the camera tries to follow cars rounding corners where the camera pans left, down then right. It was so consistent I could predict when it would happen on 3 out of 4 laps. Weird.

I doubt this update will fix that since it seems to me to be in the hardware decoding like a compression issue. Just a guess.

I was particularly annoyed last week when a Camping World race on HDNet was lost because a permanent freeze and an eventual RBR left me with only a couple of minutes.

Apparently the upgrade I got was 0x255. I got the message about added features but nothing about bug fixes.
