HR21-700 problem...off but channel on.

The last few weeks my HR21-700 has been sluggish even more than usual, but here is why I'm writing. Twice in the last three weeks I've come in to turn it on and it won't budge. But my tv is showing the last channel I watched the night before. No blue lights or blue circle. No letting me change channels even though I can hear the motor running. A hard boot usually does the trick. Is this thing heading for an overall crash or is it software?
