I've researched this forum originally regarding lockup issues with my HR21-700 and was saved from calling DTV and for now have disconnected the Ethernet cable.

Anyways my question is I've noticed that some HD programs cut off the bottom and top of the screen on my Vizio P50HDTV10A Display. This happens with Component or via HDMI connection.

What are the optimal settings for the receiver to display correctly?

My current settings:
HR21-700 (x0255 firmware) connected via HDMI to P50HDTV10A
Native - On
Selected Resolution: 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i
Screen Format: Pillar

Also i'm unable to change my remote from IR to RF as i get no response after RF conversion, is this normal? I'd like to go to RF because the remote interfers with my HTPC.

Thanks!

Does your remote have an FCC sticker on the back? If not it's not an RF remote and you need to order one from Directv.

The remote i was using did not have an FCC sticker on it, but i had another remote i received with my HR21 when i got it that did so that seems to do the trick on that part, Thanks!

This sounds like a setting in the TV, not anything to do with the HR2x. Some TV's have a setting that can hide some of the scan lines on the top and bottom to eliminate the annoying "digital snow" that can appear on some broadcast signals.

This also could be that your TV is not correctly handling one of the HD resolutions (720p or 1080i). Your panel has a native resolution of 1366x768. When it gets either a 1280x720 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080i) image, it must be rescaled to fit that 1366x768 matrix. Maybe it's not rescaling one of those properly. To test which one, you could go to the HR2x and turn native off and then choose its output resolution and note which one causes the cropped picture. Again, there may be some setting in the TV doing this, or it could be a defect.

I would seriously recommend that you record the HD test pattern and see where the image trails off the screen. The television in my living room is an older CRT projection set, and it has a LOT of overscan. The Vizio 32 inch in my den has much less, and the video projector at the church has almost none. It seems like a display device issue, rather than a receiver issue.
