I've got an Acomdata 750gb PureDrive (with 1.5gbps eSATA) drive working with my HR21-100. I thought it wasn't going to work, after it didn't recognize it right off the bat (after a reset). It took a couple hours, but eventually it rebooted on it's own, using the new drive.

It may not be relevant, but I would suggest looking at http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=350510.

The first message on the thread shows that external enclosures and drives that have been verified to work with the Tivo S3. I would suspect any of these would work fine with the HR20 or HR21.

I am currently using a Hitachi 1TB Deskstar drive in an Antec MX-1 case on my Tivo S3. I am also using a FAP 750GB with my HR20-700.

Neither of these have had any problems since I connected them over six months ago.

I don't think there is any correlation between TIVO stuff and the HR series. In your own example the FAP 750 will NOT work with the HR21 series. Better to stick with the threads in dbstalk.com, if you want a drive to work. Actually, just about anything with an Antec MX-1 enclosure seems to work with the HR21, but should be verified in the aforementioned thread in dbstalk.com.
