You don't say which model [maker] DVR you have, and it does matter which version you'll be getting.
The DVR firmware comes through the SAT feed, so the network status is meaningless.

ts a direct tv hr21/700, currently on 57b software. as for getting through the sat, thanks i didn't know that

57B is what's in the stream for that model.

I haven't kept track of which version has which, but there is another version coming. The newest version can't be forced, so you'll just need to wait for it to be pushed to your receiver.
