HR21 & Using Only One Tuner?

Will this receiver work with only one turner? My current setup will not let me have both tuners right now. I have two cables coming in from the attic, but I need one of them for my antenna OTA-HD hookup. Once the D* HD locals come on line I can then use both tuners.

Yes, it can.

If you have an OTA line coming in, get an AM21 and you can record OTA as well. In fact, you will be able to record OTA at the same time you record satellite.
Under Sat setup indicate that you are using only one tuner. You will only be able to record what you are watching.
I have been unable to find the setting for the one tuner. I also assume I need to have tuner 1 connected.

The DVR will detect you only have one tuner connected during startup. To add a 2nd line you need to connect it and reboot the unit and it will be detected during startup.

The latest software has the choice of one or two tuners in the sat setup menu. Latest release I think.

Your right. Thanks for the correction. :)
I found the setting and now have it working with just one tuner. I informed the installer when he did the install, but he kept saying I could not get all of the channels without both tuners working.

Go figure!!!
The new option allows you to manually set the number of tuners connected in the box and allows the receiver to more reliably make the distinction.
I have the same problem as the original poster. However, in the set up menu, the ability to change form dual tuners to single is blocked out unless I set to SWM--currently I am using a multiswitch. I have tried to fool the HR21-100 by setting to 'SWM', then tuners to 'single', then back to 'mulitswitch', but it won't seem to take that info. The channels appear when I have the cable in Sat 2, but acquiring guide (or CE) only occurs when the cable is in Sat 1. Anyone with any thoughts? I have a feeling I have a problem with the box itself.
Like mentioned earlier in this thread, the HR's would detect one or two tuners upon boot up, before this latest software release. I would try that, attach coax to tuner one and reboot. Worth a try.

Worth a try but didn't work. Had to just bite the bullet and run a second line to the hr-21. An hours worth of work, but now I have dual tuners.

HR-21 Definitely works with 1 tuner and it automatically detects. One of mine is setup this way with no issues.
I only have 1 tuner used on mine. I ended up getting the HR21 a few months after the H20.
