The R22 is an HR21 without official HD support. If you already have two other HD boxes, it doesn't gain you anything.
That's what I thought. I was promised a larger hard drive. I guess that's what "free" gets you. And a refurb, no less.dpeters11 said:The R22 is an HR21 without official HD support. If you already have two other HD boxes, it doesn't gain you anything.
I should have said if you have at least one HR box and one H21 or higher, it doesn't get you anything. The HR22 through 24 has a larger drive than the R22."theanswer337" said:That's what I thought. I was promised a larger hard drive. I guess that's what "free" gets you. And a refurb, no less.
not if you have HD on the account. They HAVE to replace it with the same type so if your R22 has HD on it and it craps out, you get another HD DVRShades228 said:The difference is if your R22 goes out you're getting a SD DVR. The HR21 is a real HD DVR.
Sorry but you're wrong. The R22 is an SD-DVR in DirecTV's books. It will be replaced with another R22 (highly unlikely since they quit making them) or more likely an R15/R16. Shadess228 is a DirecTV employee, he knows what he's talking about.jeffgbailey said:not if you have HD on the account. Unless the OP is in an MPEG4 market.Beerstalker said:Sorry but you're wrong. The R22 is an SD-DVR in DirecTV's books. It will be replaced with another R22 (highly unlikely since they quit making them) or more likely an R15/R16. Shadess228 is a DirecTV employee, he knows what he's talking about.
True, but the OP is in Arizona, and I don't believe there are any MPEG4 markets in AZ, so I just left that stuff out.ndole said:Unless the OP is in an MPEG4 market.
I also work for dtv and if you have any HD equipment on your account and you have an R-22 and it goes bad it is swapped out with a HD dvr I have done it plenty of times"Beerstalker" said:Sorry but you're wrong. We certainly have heard that is the policy, or at least they try to do that. Since its unlikely that no HD DVRs are in stock, it probably is fairly certain."Mcmiller519" said:I also work for dtv and if you have any HD equipment on your account and you have an R-22 and it goes bad it is swapped out with a HD dvr I have done it plenty of times

I'm sorry but R22's are flagged as SD DVR's. It's that simple nothing else is going to change that regardless of other services on the account. Even in MPEG4 markets the system attempts to swap them out because they're classified as SD.revolg said:Yes dtv employer here also. He is correct. If you have hi-def and you have a bad r-22 it will be replaced with a hd dvr. You could also get a r16 but then ur kinda down grading.
They're not saying R22s are not SD/DVRs in the system, just that DirecTV's direction to techs is to swap them for an HD/DVR if an R22 fails and they have HD. Sieble will actually allow the line item to close, without failing the like for like check.Shades228 said:I'm sorry but R22's are flagged as SD DVR's. MPEG-4 does not mean HD DVR. If you have any more questions about it feel free to PM me.
It was supposed to be an upgrade. I did renew my agreement.Beerstalker said:True, but the OP is in Arizona, and I don't believe there are any MPEG4 markets in AZ, so I just left that stuff out.
Also in that case it wouldn't have been an upgrade. They would have done that as a replacement if there was issues with his R22, and he wouldn't have had to sign a new 2 year agreement to do it.
That's fine, but remember that if the HR24-200 ever breaks DIRECTV won't guarantee an HR24 for a replacement should you choose go through them of course.theanswer337 said:I am trying to decide if I should purchase an HR24 from SolidSignal and return the HR21 that was sent to me as a free upgrade by DirecTV.
I specifically would like to get an HR24-200. ...
I'm not sure if DIRECTV gives the full credit in a lump sum that way resulting in little or no satellite bill to you for 1-2 months. But might break it up into a number of smaller credits over a 3-6 month period until its paid off.... It is my understanding that since I renewed my 2-year deal, I should receive a credit of $199.00 on my DirecTV bill?
If you send it back and cancel the order and charges and credits will be reversed. There will not be a credit on your bill. You have not renewed your agreement because the box isn't activated.theanswer337 said:I am trying to decide if I should purchase an HR24 from SolidSignal and return the HR21 that was sent to me as a free upgrade by DirecTV.
