I'm trying to use an HR21 with only one tuner and this is the issue.

If I use In Sat 1 I don't get any picture
If I use In Sat 2 it doesn't get the guide

I've tried resetting and unplugging, but it doesn't seem to know that there is only 1 tuner being used.

Any ideas?

You should be able to redo satellite setup .. During the process there is an option to set single tuner (instead of dual) .. once you do that and your cable is plugged into Tuner #1 then things should work better for you.
