HR24-500and iPad

I have an hr24-500 directv receiver. The iPad app sees the receiver name but the receiver id is 0000, and it cannot connect. I verified that the information for the receiver is correct on the directv website, and have called customer support with no luck. I was able to verify network connectivity between both devices and external device is allowed on the receiver.

Does the receiver show with a red dot beside in the receiver control menu if so try entering the ip address manually. If it already shows green then may try deleting the app and reinstalling it.
It's a data issue with the OP's account. It needs to be taken care of on the DirecTV side of things. Maybe someone here will take pity on the OP and help them out... :)

That is correct. I had the same thing happen to me in the early days of the iPad app. The OP just needs to get someone on the phone who knows what he's referring to.
The OP said that he checked the DTV website and it had all the correct info so it shouldnt be that. I have saw this before and 1st check and make the sure under settings and receiver control that the correct ip shows listed then if it is redo the app and if that doesnt work give it a few hours and it should update if it was just activated it does sometimes take up to 24 hours to show up and work.
