To avoid variations in Directv guide, banner, etc resolution on my new 1080p HDTV I set native off and have only 1080p resolution checked. I do realize very few, if any TV shows are in 1080p yet my thought is my Sony, Denon AVR or DTV HR24-700 will upscale 480i, 480p resolutions to at least 720p or 1080i.

Am I correct?

That much is, as all but 1080p will be scaled to 1080i.

At first that was the whole post, with the 10180i bolded, but then I looked and pointed out 720p would also be upscaled and interlaced to 1080i.

I'm a native on with all resolutions selected type, but you might want to select native and only check the 720p & 1080i [plus the 1080p], as all HD would be sent to your TV for your TV to handle.
